20 Months!

I am a little behind on my blogging, but back on Jan 11th our sweet Ely turned 20 months.  I can't believe in 4 months he will be 2 years old.  I am already starting to think about his birthday party.  Here is a picture of him last year at this time when he was only 8 months old.  He has changed so much!!

His latest accomplishments are mimicking everything we do.
Tries to brush his own teeth
He knows how to blow his nose with a tissue
He cleans his ears with a Q-tip
This one is great - he can unload our dishwasher and put the dishes away in their correct place (within his reach of course)
Loads the dryer with wet clothes that I hand him from the washing machine
Tries to suction his own nose with the nasal aspirator
Combs and pretends to wash his hair
Throws his dirty diapers away in the diaper genie
Turns off his humidifier after his nap
Rubs lotion on his face and belly
He can point to his ear, head, eye, hair, nose, mouth and belly button when prompted
And my my favorite - he blows on his food before he eats it
Oh and he has started trying to jump.  He doesn't make it far off the ground, but he is getting it.

We are in this weird nap transition phase right now that seems never ending! Brief synopses -
He started not sleeping at all for his afternoon nap, even after I shortened his morning nap to 1 hour and lengthened his waketime between the 2 naps.  So there were days he was awake from 11:30am to bedtime.  Well that caused him to be overtired before bed, therefore he started waking up 1 hour early in the morning (this is Ely fashion, overtired = waking up early in the morning). Yes it is strange, but he has always been that way.  So now we are in a viscous cycle!   We are trying just one nap - down at 12:30pm, but he is waking around 2pm... crying hard!  Long afternoon, very tired kid, early morning waketime all over again.  I really feel he is ready for one nap, but it just might take some time and sleep deprivation to get there!

OK, blows his nose?!? Now, come on over when ever you have time and teach both of my kiddos to blow their noses. I'm so tired of wiping them!!! ;)
